Food and Drink Industry Sector Performance Standards

Sector Performance Standards are also known as National Occupational Standards (NOS).

Developed in close consultation with employers, standards describe what an individual needs to do, know and understand in order to carry out a particular job role or function.

Standards can save time and money by ensuring that the right person is recruited first time and that current employees get the support and development they need to contribute to the company’s success.

Sector Performance Standards or National Occupational Standards (NOS) are now available to download from www.ukstandards.org.uk

Standards have lots of uses including:

Developing job descriptions and the requirements to do that job.
Help in appraising existing employees and identifying areas of development.
Support employees moving into a new job role by clearly outlining what is required of them.
Developing food and drink qualifications like N/SVQs and VLQs.
