Improve Vocational Qualifications

Here at Improve, we work to ensure that all learners are prepared for working in the food and drink industry. We are currently in the process of developing a new framework for a family of Improve Vocational Qualifications (IVQs), which give learners the opportunity to develop industry skills in a learning environment.

These new Qualifications provide learners with the skills and knowledge they will need to pursue a career in food and drink, and prepare them for the world of work.

IVQs will increase the skills levels of people entering the workforce. Individuals will benefit from having a smooth transition into employment and will become valuable additions to the industry.

With such a key focus on skills development, IVQs are ideal to use in off-the-job environments because they ensure relevant training and assessment has taken place before an individual starts working.

IVQs are a passport for career progression and open up a world of employment and further learning opportunities, including both Further and Higher Education.

They will be integral to increasing both productivity and performance in food and drink companies. As a result of having such a key role in skills development, IVQs have numerous benefits including:

Attracting new recruits to the food and drink industry
Upskilling the existing workforceUpskilling the existing workforce
Providing opportunities for multi-skilled employees, i.e. developing technical managers of the future

These new flexible Qualifications give learners the opportunity to select units, which are related to their specific interests in the food and drink industry and play a central role in developing the skilled workforce of tomorrow.
