This new Qualification is currently available in 10 different subjects and has been developed in partnership with employers. Students get the chance to learn and develop a range of skills and knowledge related to a specific subject area.
Improve has led the development of the Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design (MPD). We have worked with the other manufacturing Sector Skills Councils and a wide range of manufacturing employers to create a Qualification, which gives young people a detailed insight into the diverse world of manufacturing and product design.
This new Qualification has recently been launched. Schools and colleges in 34 areas of England have been approved to offer it from September 2009, with this increasing to 54 areas from the start of the 2010 academic year.
Improve is continuing to play the lead role in promoting the Diploma in MPD and is further developing both the Qualification and resources to help local partnerships of schools, colleges and employers.
You can learn more about this new Qualification by visiting the Diploma in MPD website. You will also find a link to the new classroom poster, which gives information about the Diploma and the opportunities it offers. Employers may also want to download the Show Your Support leaflet, providing information on ways of getting involved in the Diploma in MPD.
Improve has also played a key role in the development and promotion of the Diploma in Environmental and Land-based Studies, which gives young people the opportunity to learn about a wide range of subject areas. These include environmental sciences and working with both plants and animals, as well as how land is used for food production.
As well as this, we are currently working in partnership on the initial stages of the Qualification development for the Diploma in Science, which will be available in schools from September 2011, with Advanced Level being available in September 2012.
