Flexible Training Programme Offers Boost to North East Food and Drink Producers

05.01.2010

The North East England Food & Drink Group (NEEFDG), which works in partnership with Improve, is currently running a programme of flexible training support for the region’s food and drink producers. Developed and delivered on behalf of NEEFDG by HSF Training, the series of courses includes scheduled events around the region, combined with the latest in distance learning methods. This combination is designed to help businesses who don’t have the time or resources to release staff off site and will give better access to training for producers in remote rural locations.

The training on offer includes courses on the essentials of food safety and hygiene. Producers can also find out about the latest legislation relevant to the food and drink sector, helping them to ensure that they continue to meet legal requirements as they grow their businesses. If producers are unsure which courses are most appropriate for them, NEEFDG and HSF Training are available to provide advice on which will provide greatest benefit to their business.

Along with a schedule of training events in the region, all of the courses can be held at the businesses’ premises or site for no extra cost, providing there is a minimum of eight delegates in attendance. The distance learning package relates to courses on food safety, and health and safety.

Sandy Duncan, of the North Ease England Food & Drink Group, comments: “The training programme forms part of ongoing NEEFDG activity designed to increase skills, promote the industry as an appealing and progressive career choice, and add significant value to the sector. The courses available give food and drink businesses the opportunity to develop and strengthen their operations, which is crucial during these challenging economic times.”

Judith Holliday of HSF Training adds: “All food businesses are legally required to implement health and safety measures as well as food safety. Some producers don’t realise what training is necessary and this can prevent them from selling their produce and developing their businesses. The flexible programme HSF Training has put in place makes it easy for the region’s producers to develop the skills they need to grow and I urge anyone interested in our courses to call HSF Training today.”

Please visit the NEEFDG website where you will find the training calendar for the next six months, along with a booking form, and a breakdown of what each course entails. For any further information please don't hesitate to contact the NEEFDG on 0845 456 2340.
