Food and Drink Industry Benefits

Here at Improve, we have worked with employers across the food and drink industry to develop Apprenticeships in Food Manufacture to meet their specific needs.

Though following an Apprenticeship in food and drink your employees will gain a nationally recognised qualification.

This flexible learning programme develops wide ranging skills and knowledge, and gives employers the opportunity to develop the skills needed in their company.

We have developed a Framework for Apprenticeships in Food Manufacture for each of the UK nations. Both employers and learners can tailor these Apprenticeships to their specific requirements and there are a number of benefits.

Employers benefit in a variety of different ways:

Apprenticeships offer a single learning programme that covers a wide range of roles in the food and drink industry.
The Framework offers flexibility on how to deliver Apprenticeships as best suits the company and workforce.
Apprenticeships help to create a better trained, more highly skilled workforce.
They encourage the development of a learning culture, which has a positive impact on motivation and staff retention, and this in turn reduces costs.
Apprenticeships remain a high priority with government initiatives and Improve’s Apprenticeships allows access to government funding.
Apprenticeships are a great method of planning to meet the resourcing demands of the industry (137,000 new recruits are required by 2017).

There are also numerous benefits for learners:

Apprentices can ‘learn and earn’ while becoming competent and developing the required skills and knowledge.
Apprenticeships support career development, and learners can progress in different ways including from Level 2 to Level 3.
Along with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) comes increased job satisfaction.
Apprentices gain a nationally recognised qualification and full recognition for their achievements in specific sectors such as bakery and butchery.
